<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technologies for taking fingerprints, capable of immediately and securely taking fingerprints of a person while the person is substantially unconscious of the taking of fingerprints without having previous recognition that the fingerprints will be taken, without staining a fingertip of the person after taking the fingerprints, and without giving any psychological or mental burdens on the person. <P>SOLUTION: The implement is for taking fingerprints of a person whose fingerprints are wanted. The implement comprises a base material sheet 1 of such a size as to be set on a prescribed object which may be touched by the person whose fingerprints are wanted, and previously set on the object, and a reaction layer 3 disposed on the fingerprint taking face 2 of the base material layer 1. The reaction layer 3 reacts when touches a secretion 10 from sweat gland pores on the fingerprint ridge lines and forms patterns along the fingerprint ridge lines on the fingerprint taking face 2. The fingerprint image 4 of the person can be taken as the fingertip 13 of the person touches the fingerprint taking face 2 while the person is substantially unconscious of the taking of the fingerprints.
