PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axial flow turbine improving a turbine cascade performance, by optimally combining fundamental parameters having a direct influence on the turbine blade cascade performance. SOLUTION: In at least two or more continuous turbine stages Na, Nb, Nc out of a plurality of turbine stages of the axial flow turbine under a condition wherein a throat/pitch ratio (s/t) of turbine nozzles 3a<SB>1</SB>, 3b<SB>1</SB>, 3c<SB>1</SB>, becomes larger toward the downstream turbine stage Nc from the upstream turbine stage Na, an optimum value of a pitch/axial cord ratio (t/Ca) wherein blade cascade losses of the turbine nozzles 3a<SB>1</SB>, 3b<SB>1</SB>, 3c<SB>1</SB>are minimized is acquired to set a pitch t and an axial cord Ca of each of turbine nozzles 3a<SB>1</SB>, 3b<SB>1</SB>, 3c<SB>1</SB>, from the acquired optimum value.
