PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling fine pore characteristics (porosity, average pore diameter, total pore volume) of a porous structure, capable of manufacturing a porous structure having stable fine pore characteristics, even when variation of a pore forming rate of a raw material to be used for extrusion differs with each lot. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the fine pore characteristics of the porous structure, a part of a raw material to be used for extrusion is sampled and extrusion-molded, the fine pore characteristics after firing of the obtained formed article and the characteristics of the material to be used for extrusion are grasped beforehand, and the fine pore characteristics of the formed article and the fired article are controlled.
