PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thumb turn device which makes a thumb turn non-insertable therein by single hand operation, and prevents easy unauthentic unlocking operation even if the hand of an outsider is inserted inside a room. SOLUTION: The thumb turn device is formed of the thumb turn 4, a shutter plate 5, and a rotary knob 6. The thumb turn is formed by inserting a thumb turn shaft 3 into a thumb turn insertion hole 2 formed in a case 1, detachably supported by the case 1, and functions to operate a door lock device for rotation. The shutter plate engages with the thumb turn 4 to restrain the thumb turn 4 from disengaging from the case 1 and blocks the thumb turn insertion hole 2 after disengagement of the thumb turn 4 by a predetermined energizing force.
