PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL display device restraining the reflection of external light due to a reflection face having high reflection rate like a metal electrode, and further, dispensing with a circular polarization plate used in the past. SOLUTION: In order to restrain the reflection of external light on a cathode, a colored layer is formed between a display area 110 and a sealing part 107 so as to overlap an anode 103 and an anode auxiliary wiring 103a at observation side. The colored layer is made of a material same as the material for a color filter layer, preferably that for a black matrix layer. The number of parts is thereby reduced, a manufacturing process is made effective, and external light reflection preventing effect in the organic EL element is surely obtained. Further, since the circular polarization plate can be removed, a light-utilization efficiency of an organic light emitting layer 104 can be enhanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
