PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polyamine compound useful as a ligand of a metal complex. SOLUTION: The polyamine compound is represented by formula (I) (wherein n is an integer of 3-7; R<SP>1</SP>is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon group and a plurality of R<SP>1</SP>s may be the same or different, two or more of R<SP>1</SP>s are hydrocarbon groups having an asymmetric carbon atom, and any two of R<SP>1</SP>s may be bonded to each other to form a ring but the number of members of the ring is≤3; and R<SP>2</SP>is a divalent hydrocarbon group and a plurality of R<SP>2</SP>s may be the same or different).
