摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular tire air pressure monitoring system which uses batteryless transponders and a central RF receiver. SOLUTION: Transponder units 10, each having a built-in RF transmitter 12, are attached to tires to be monitored, respectively. Pressure sensors 26 for the tires are connected to the circuits of the corresponding transponder units 10, respectively. Interrogator units 7 are attached to a vehicle in close vicinity to wheels 9 of the tires to be monitored, respectively. The central RF receiver 4 is provided to work for every transponder unit 10. Each transponder unit 10 is connected inductively to the related interrogator unit 7. Each charge accumulating element 24 is charged with energy supplied from the related interrogator unit 7 by electromagnetic induction in a first mode of operation, and supplies power to the RF transmitter 12 of the transponder unit 7 in a second mode of operation.
