PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high speed bi-component spun yarn of polyester filaments containing a fiber elongation-improving agent added thereto, which can stably be wound up in a state maintaining the residual elongation of the spun yarn at a conventional level without using an oiling agent in a post drawing or DTY processing process, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This method for producing the bi-component spun yarn of the polyester filaments is characterized by melt-cospinning a polyester in which at least one of a particulate polymethyl methacrylate-based polymer, an isotactic polystyrene-based polymer, a syndiotactic polystyrene-based polymer and a polymethylpentene-based polymer is dispersed in an amount of 0.5 to 4.0 wt.% based on the weight of the polyester, and a polymer substantially not containing the polymers, and then taking off the spun filaments at a takeoff rate of 2,500 to 8,000 m/min.
