PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a color filter substrate for a liquid crystal display device, which is equipped with patterned spacers. SOLUTION: The method of fabricating the liquid crystal display device, which includes first and second substrates and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates, includes a step to attach a transfer film 150 comprising a transfer material layer onto a surface, opposite to the liquid crystal layer, of either of the first and second substrates, and a step to transfer portions of the transfer material to the substrate surface and to remove the transfer film so as to form the patterned spacers.
