PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a droplet hitting control method which realizes both a high image quality and a high speed by conducting droplet hitting control with placement interferences of liquid droplets taken into account, and to provide a liquid discharge apparatus. SOLUTION: When forming a line image 140 by hitting three or more ink droplets at the same time to droplet hitting points on the same line while the adjacent ink droplets are made to overlap with each other in placement, the droplet hitting control is carried out so that a droplet hitting amount of the ink droplets which form dots 100 and 104 at both end parts becomes larger than a droplet hitting amount of the ink droplet which forms a dot 102 at the center part. The ink placed on the droplet hitting points of both end parts are drawn to the ink placed on the droplet hitting point of the center part. Accordingly, a width of the center part becomes large, and at the same time a density of the center part is prevented from being thick. The line image 140 of uniform line width and density is thus formed. The droplet hitting amount of each droplet hitting point may be changed continuously or stepwise. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
