PIPELINED ADC CALIBRATION METHOD AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital auto-calibration type pipelined analog/digital converter (ADC) utilizing an external analog/digital conversion module, and a method associated therewith. SOLUTION: A pipelined ADC includes a plurality of analog/digital conversion units which are cascaded in series to form a pipeline. An error correction method for the pipelined ADC includes the steps of: evaluating the plurality of analog/digital conversion units using an external analog/digital conversion module during a first mode; calculating a set of a plurality of correction coefficients based on a digital output value of the external analog/digital conversion module in the evaluation step; and correcting output signals of the plurality of analog/digital conversion units based on the set of correction coefficients during a second mode.
