PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preceding handrail of a prefabricated scaffold which is smoothly moved up and down even when the prefabricated scaffold has poor assembly accuracy, and which is easy to handle and is installed easily and quickly. SOLUTION: A guide rail 7 is installed along a stud 3 of a frame 2 of the prefabricated scaffold 1. A strut 11 of the preceding handrail 10 is arranged on the guide rail 7 to be movable up and down. A stopper 16 is mounted on the strut 11 to be engageable with a horizontal member 5 of the frame 2. An extensible horizontal bar 12 is installed between adjacent struts 11. When the prefabricated scaffold 1 is assembled upward, the strut 11 is raised along the guide rail 7 and the horizontal bar 12 for safe work is installed around the upper scaffold in advance. The strut 11 is easy to handle even when the assembly accuracy of the prefabricated scaffold 1 is poor due to a distortion of the frame 2, etc., since the strut 11 is smoothly moved up and down along the guide rail 7 which is separately installed for the up/down movement .
