PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to browse only information profitable for the user himself/herself and realize the real time performance for receiving mails in an information distribution system using a cable television network. SOLUTION: The information distribution system comprises an information distributing server 4 and a home terminal 2. The server 4 records an information ID 11 corresponding to each information category, acquires the information category and the information contents from received information, sets information frames composed of the information ID 11 corresponding to the information category and the information contents 12, and sends the information frames to a cable television information relay station 3. The home terminal 2 has a table 61 for setting whether it receives information corresponding to each information ID 11, and when the ID 11 of the received information frames via the information relay station 3 from the information distributing server 4 is receivable, displays or/and accumulates the information contents of the information frames in a television receiver 1, and discards the information frames, respectively, when the ID 11 is unreceivable.
