<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic field detecting element capable of accurately controlling the height from a measuring level. <P>SOLUTION: The detecting element has an optical fiber 21 for magnetic field measurement for detecting a magnetic field radiated from a measuring object and a plurality of optical fibers 22 for height measurement for measuring the displacement of distance from the tip end to the measuring object. To the tip end of the optical fiber 21 for magnetic field measurement, an MO crystal 24 coated with a mirror thin film 25 is provided on one end surface. Around the optical fiber 21 for magnetic field measurement, a plurality of optical fibers 22 for height measurement are arranged.
