PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer composition capable of readily improving damping performance. SOLUTION: The polymer composition comprises a polymer matrix, a swelling clay mineral and an active ingredient. A thermoplastic polymer which is a main component for the polymer matrix is composed of a plurality of thermoplastic polymers different in glass transition points. The active component imparts action damping energy such as vibration energy, sound energy or impact energy to the polymer composition. It is preferable that the swelling clay mineral forms layers and contains an interlaminar composite obtained by inserting the active ingredient into the interlayer. The active ingredient is preferably absorbed into the swelling clay mineral. The swelling clay mineral is preferably dispersed in molecular state. The polymer composition is formed in various shapes and is utilized as a vibration damping material, a sound-absorbing material and an impact-absorbing material. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
