<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter that can accurately detect an abnormality when the abnormality occurs in the power converter. <P>SOLUTION: The power converter comprises: a control unit that outputs a gate command that turns on or off a semiconductor device; a first gate drive that controls the semiconductor device on the basis of the gate command, and outputs a gate feedback signal; a second gate drive that controls the semiconductor device on the basis of the gate command, and outputs the gate feedback signal; a fault determination disagreement detection part that takes logics of the gate command outputted to the gate drive and the gate feedback signal outputted from the gate drive; and a fault determination short-circuit detection part that takes logics of the gate feedback signals.
