摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the fatigue of a driver when he must make brake operation frequently, for example, in a traffic jam. SOLUTION: When sensing is made for running in a traffic jam in which the brake operation is conducted frequently (Yes in answer to step S2), the hysteresis C is lessened by subtracting the fundamental reduction amount C<SB>1</SB>from the normal hysteresis C<SB>o</SB>(step S7). To lessen the brake hysteresis C, adjustment is made so that the reduction amount of the brake hysteresis C in running on a down-gradient becomes smaller than on an up-gradient by correcting the fundamental reduction amount C<SB>1</SB>with a correction factor K1 calculated on the basis of the road gradient (steps S3, S4, S7), and also the amount C<SB>1</SB>is corrected with a correction factor K2 calculated on the basis of the drive torque T of the vehicle, to generate adjustment so that the reduction amount of the brake hysteresis C becomes smaller with greater driving torque T (steps S5-S7).
