摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress application of a DC current component to an electrooptical substance without requiring driving of scanning lines and data lines. SOLUTION: The image persistence prevention circuit 60 is a circuit for preventing the image persistence to a liquid crystal display device and comprises pixel electrodes arranged in correspondence to the intersections of the scanning lines and the data lines and counter electrodes facing the pixel electrodes across the electrooptical substance. The image persistence prevention circuit 60 has a capacitor element 61, a switching element 63 and a control circuit 65, among which the control circuit 65 holds the voltage meeting a high-level side voltage Vdd of a power source in the capacitor element 61 when the applied voltage to a power source line 325 is the high-level side voltage Vdd. When, on the other hand, the applied voltage to the power source line 325 drops, the circuit applies the voltage held in the capacitor element 61 to a gate of the switching element 63 to turn on the gate, thereby holding the data line 12 and the counter electrode at the same potential.
