[Class 44] A strip metal fastener for securing a moulding 1, Fig. 4, or the like to an apert u r e d supporting panel P comprises a base 11, a head portion 20 attached thereto and provided with a pair of spring arms 24, a shank which is formed from a pair of legs 12, and a pair of spring fingers 18 depending from the base 11 which co-operate with the spring arms 24 in engaging the moulding. The V-shaped legs 12 terminate in flat abutting portions 14 and are cut away to form tongues 15, Fig. 2, which are corrugated at 17. Slits are cut above the apertures to delineate the spring fingers 18. Two head portions 20, formed on either side of the base 11 and connected thereto by web portions 21, extend slightly downwardly when untensioned. On inserting the fastener into aperture 7 until the ends 16 of the tongues 15 bear against the under surface of the panel P and then forcing the moulding 1 from its dotted position Fig. 4 to the full line one, the rounded cam portions 25 of spring arms 24 snap over the flanges 3 of the moulding, the inclined head portions 20 increasing the force exterted by the spring arms. |
