摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic focusing control which eliminates an influence by a flicker and has a higher stability. SOLUTION: The imaging device has an AF signal processing circuit 114 to output a focus evaluating value signal expressing a focus state of a photographing optical system on the basis of a high-frequency component of an output signal of an imaging element 106 and a control means 115 to execute a focus searching control to control a drive of a focus lens so as to search a focusing position of the focus lens based on the focus evaluating value signal. The control means conducts the focus searching control, and has a luminance fluctuation detecting circuit to detect the fluctuation of level of a luminance signal. The luminance fluctuation detecting circuit detects a continuous repeat change of the luminance signal level at 3 fields space in a prescribed time each field and a presence and absence of a fluctuation quantity of a continuous and prescribed comparison value and more, and changes a sampling period of an AF evaluating value based on the detected result.
