PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sludge removal method capable of drastically reducing the quantity of waste produced by removal of the sludge from an oil tank. SOLUTION: In this sludge removal method, a sludge-containing sludge removal agent obtained by allowing a sludge removal agent to contact with sludge in the oil tank is heated to 40°C or more and is circulated. The sludge removal method has furthermore a sludge removal agent regenerating process for pulling out a part of the sludge-containing sludge removal agent after heating, separating the pulled-out sludge-containing sludge removal agent into a solid content and a regenerated sludge removal agent, and subsequently returning the regenerated sludge removal agent to a sludge removal agent circulating line.
