PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an optical fiber array having a function to convert an optical fiber pitch and to reduce the cost and the size and to suppress optical loss of the optical fiber array. SOLUTION: An optical fiber array 10 is provided with a substrate 1, a fixing plate 2 on which a group of parallel linear grooves 22 having a desired pitch is provided on the surface and a taped core wire 4 which is separated into individual optical fibers 41 made of a clad section and a core section by removing a coating 42 in the vicinity of the tip part. A linear groove formed surface 21 of the fixing plate 2 is opposed to a main surface 11 of the substrate 1 and fixed. The taped core wire 4 is fixed to the substrate 1 at two places, i.e., a place (in the vicinity of a coating tip 42a) where separation is made for the individual optical fibers 41 and a place where optical fibers are inserted into the linear grooves 22. The manufacturing of the optical fiber array 10 is conducted by using a re-usable guide plate, which is provided with a plurality of guide grooves having an approximately same groove pitch of the linear grooves 22 on the surface, at the vicinity of an exit tip part.
