PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator with an intermediate doorway reduced in installation length, easily assemblable, enabling the safe riding on and off, and capable of increasing a usability. SOLUTION: This escalator comprises handrails 1A and 1B vertically installed intermittently between the story floors of main frames linearly installed on the plurality of story floors 2A, 2B, 2C, and 2D and forming intermediate doorways 3A and 3B at cut parts, moving handrails 5A and 5B wound around the handrails 1A and 1B, steps 4 endlessly stored in the main frames and forming step horizontal parts 4a at half-landings between the story floors, and foot plates 7 laid down in the overall ranges of the intermediate doorways 3A and 3B at the upper parts of the step horizontal parts 4a.
