CONDITION DETECTION AND NOTIFICATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS

The security detection system (10) includes a detection unit (12) capable of detecting a condition, said unit in communication with a remote central server (14). Where the detection unit (12) is connected to the server via a dial-up modem, the detection system may be connected to a telephone seizure unit (24). Upon occur­rence and detection of a condition, the detection unit (12) prevents a telephone (26) from communicating with a main telephone line (41), while still allowing said de­tection unit (12) to communicate electronic information to the server (14), even upon lifting of the telephone receiver (43) from the base (45). Once electronic information is sent to the server, a programmed database (66) of the server may send the information according to a pre-determined designation. The server monitors whether a designated party has responded to the information, and if not, may send the information to a human monitoring station (87). The designated party may request and re­ceive additional information from the detection unit (12), via the server.
