Disclosed is the use of compounds of formula (I) for the preparation of compositions for deterring helmintic parasites, wherein: Y is H, optionally substituted alkyl or O-X, X is H, COR11, COOR12 or R13, R1 is optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl, R2, R11, R12 and R13 are independently optionally substituted alkyl or alkenyl, R3-R10 are independently H or optionally substituted alkyl, or R2 and R3, or R3 and R7, or R3 and R5, or R5 and R7 may together form an optionally substituted monocyclic ring, n and m are independently 0 or 1. Also disclosed is a method for deterring helmintic parasites, wherein the compounds of formula (I) are applied to the skin of the organism to be protected.
