PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar illuminant excellent in visibility. SOLUTION: The planar illuminant 1 of this invention includes a light transmission plate part 3, a surface part 2, a light source part 4, and a base part 5, and the light transmission plate part 3 has a light emitting surface part 3c spreading in the direction crossing the surface.
