PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut a polarizing film chip directly out of a strip which has triangular lugs when the polarizing film chip having a size corresponding to a panel size is further cut out of the strip obliquely cut out of the raw sheet of polarizing film. SOLUTION: The strip 11 having lugs T and T2 at both ends is conveyed by a belt conveyor 110 and a CCD camera 140 images the strip 11; and a 2nd corner and a 3rd corner which appear as the strip 11 moves are detected through image processing and the distance L between them is found and divided by the width W of a polarizing film chip to be cut out to calculate the number M of polarizing film chips which can be cut out. A frequency M+1 of cutting is given to a cutting means 130 and a cutter 132 makes cuts in the strip 11 to cut the polarizing film chips 13 out. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
