Microwave reactor comprises microwave generator; hollow conductor (12) coupled to the generator and producing electromagnetic waves; and tube (78) through which a fluid flows and in which an activator chamber (80) is formed. Molecules in the fluid stream are activated by dissociation and/or ionization. The tube contains reaction chamber (92) in which activated molecules are used as reactants. An Independent claim is also included for a process for controlling reactions of activated molecules.
