The appts. to clean fibre flocking material, before it is used for spinning, uses an air stream to carry the flocking (A) through a fibre transport channel, which has an optical sensor system (16', 16'') and a separator for the foreign matter. - Pref. the fibre transport channel has a branch channel (9c) with deflectors (24-26), such as separating flaps, to eject the foreign matter (E). The separation station has blowers, and an opening in the channel wall for the foreign matter (E) to be blown through, opposite the blowers. The blowers are at the bottom or top of the fibre transport channel. The branch channel (9c), or the wall openings are linked to a collection container for the separated matter (E). The cleaned flocking material (C) is carried onwards pneumatically. The fibre transport section has a channel stretch in a rectangular or square cross section. The channel wall has a transparent section (13', 13'') for the optical sensor system or camera (16', 16'') with an optical sensor capability. A number of sensors are deployed across the whole working width (a), with at least one camera (16', 16''), in a system which can also give a colour sensor action.
