PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently collect data when adopting a wireless communications system utilizing a wireless packet network. SOLUTION: In the automatic metering system adopting the wireless communication system provided with a plurality of communication terminals 6 for collecting read meter data from meters 7 for measuring quantities to be metered, and a center apparatus 1 for collecting and managing the metering data from a plurality of the wireless communication terminals 6 via the wireless packet network 4, wireless communication between the communication terminals 6 and the center apparatus 1 under superior radio wave environment uses a communication protocol which is different from a communication protocol, used by wireless communication between the communication terminals 6 and the center apparatus 1 under worsened radio wave environment.
