PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device for a spindle of simple constitution capable of enhancing operability of the spindle. SOLUTION: This brake device is provided with a cylinder 610 with one end attached to a bush 212, a piston 620 provided to be movable inside the cylinder 610, the first cylinder chamber 611 and the second cylinder chamber 612 partitioned by the piston 620, a main flow passage 640 for communication the first cylinder chamber 611 with the second cylinder chamber 612 to make a fluid flow, a fine flow passage 650 for communication the first cylinder chamber 611 with the second cylinder chamber 612, an opening and closing means 660 for opening and closing the main flow passage 640, and an interlocking means 670 for interlocking an operation of the opening and closing means 660 with the moving of the spindle 300, for closing the main flow passage 640 by the opening and closing means 660 when the spindle 300 moves to one end side, and for opening the main flow passage 640 by the opening and closing means 660 when the spindle 300 moves to the other end side.
