PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting device for an internal combustion engine capable of improving startability of the internal combustion engine by increasing certainty of ignition at the start. SOLUTION: This starting device for the internal combustion engine is provided with an injector 12 injecting fuel into a combustion chamber 6 of the internal combustion engine 1, a control valve 22 regulating injection pressure of the injector 22, and a start control means 24 performing fuel piling up control controlling the control valve 22 to inject fuel from the injector 22 at injection pressure higher than injection pressure in an ignition range at the start of the internal combustion engine 1.
