<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper eyelid detector capable of improving the detection precision of the upper eyelid. <P>SOLUTION: An upper eyelid detector 1 is to detect the upper eyelid that divides the eye and the skin of the subject. First, the upper eyelid detector 1 acquires an eye image including the eye, extracts each edge point from the eye image on the basis of the density of each element, and extracts an edge line from the edge points. Next, the upper eyelid detector 1 approximates the edge line to a quadratic curve or upper and detects the curvature of at least one of the extracted edge line and the approximated curve. Further, the upper eyelid detector 1 detects a correlation value between the edge line and the approximated curve. After that, the upper eyelid detector 1 determines that the edge line is the edge line of the upper eyelid when the detected curvature is convex upward in the vertical direction of the face and the detected correlation value is a predetermined value or higher. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
