PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter for an engine for a model capable of preventing a drive part, a connection pin on which the drive shaft abuts, and gears of a transmission gear mechanism from being damaged. SOLUTION: In this starter S for the engine E for the model, a hub 51 in which a guide tilted groove 53 tilted at a specified angle relative to a shaft is formed is rotated by a rotatingly driving part 31 transmitting the rotational force of a motor 32 by a transmission gear mechanism 33, and a pin 71 installed in a starter shaft 61 through the hub 51 is moved by the guide faces 54 and 55 of the guide tilted groove 53 to move the starter shaft 61 so as to abut a projection 64 formed at the tip of the starter shaft 61 on the connection pin P installed in the crankshaft C of the engine E for the model in order to start the engine E for the model. A shock absorbing mechanism 41 absorbing shock when the projection 64 abuts on the connection pin P is installed between the final stage gear forming a rotatingly driving part 31 and the hub 51 rotating coaxially with the gear 34.
