PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform photographing while combining preset image quality determination items, such as resolution and compression rate, and to flexibly deal with a request if the number of photographable pictures reaches the specified number of pictures. SOLUTION: There is provided a digital camera including functions for performing photographing while combining preset image quality determination items, such as resolution and compression rate, detecting the combination of photographable pictures using an empty area on a present recording medium from the combination of all the image quality determination items, such as resolution and compression rate supported by the digital camera if the number of photographable pictures reaches the specified number of pictures, and rearranging a result of the detection according to items (resolution, compression rate, the number of pictures to be photographed) to be made preferential for a user, and presenting a result for the user.
