PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit images, while attaching voice thereto, and further to transmit the image and the voice, at a high speed in an image transmission system. SOLUTION: When it is discriminated that a transmission destination device does not have a voice processing function, such as IPPFAX, a protocol including a means for grasping throughput of the transmission destination device before file transmission is utilized, to display a result of the discrimination for a user and to change a format of the file to be transmitted.
