PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily efficiently reduce the thickness of a panel sound generating apparatus employing a piezoelectric bimorph element. SOLUTION: The periphery of a panel 21 excepting its front side is disposed via a supporting member 22 on a base 11 so that it can vibrate. The piezoelectric bimorph element 31 vibrating the panel 21 is disposed on the front side of the panel 21 on the base 11. Both the sides of the element 31 are disposed on the base 11 via a fixing member 32. The top surface of the center of the element 31 is connected to the top surface of the front side of the member 21 by a connecting member 33. Since the element 31 has a mode of two-point support (or two-point restriction), the center thereof is a maximum displacement (vibration) region which is mostly displaceable. Therefore, the element 31 transmits to the panel 21 the displacement of the maximum displacement region with respect to the fixing member 32 via the connection member 33. Since the element 31 is displaced outside the panel 21 for generating sound waves, the apparatus can be reduced in thickness. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
