PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply producing a polyhydroxyalkanoic acid hydrolysate or its salt in excellent production efficiency.

SOLUTION: This method for producing the polyhydroxyalkanoic acid hydrolysate or its salt comprises culturing a cell in which the activity of a polyhydroxyalkanoic acid hydrolase and/or the activity of a 3-hydroxyalkanoic acid oligomer hydrolase and the activity of a polyhydroxyalkanoic acid biosynthetase are improved and/or the metabolic degradation activity of a 3-hydroxyalkanoic acid and/or its oligomer are weak or low, and then recovering the polyhydroxyalkanoic acid hydrolysate or its salt from the culture product.
