PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication device that reduces power consumption in a radio communication device outside a range for enabling radio communication, and can be started by automatically recognizing a movement into the range for enabling the radio communication. SOLUTION: The radio communication device comprises a radio wave detection section 12 for detecting that radio waves near a frequency band in a specified radio communication system are received; a signal type determination section 13 for identifying whether the received waves have the format of the radio communication system; and a digital signal processing section 14 for processing the received waves having the format of the radio communication system. Outside the range, a radio wave detection section 12 regularly repeats activation and stop, and the signal type determination section 13 and the digital signal processing section 14 stop. When the radio wave detection section 12 detects radio waves near the frequency band in the radio communication system, the signal type determination section 13 is started. When the signal type determination section 13 identifies that the received waves have the format of the radio communication system, the digital signal processing section 14 is started.
