PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wired transmission system, capable of transmitting an analog signal in addition to transmission of Ethernet (R), based on a communication protocol in normal Ethernet (R) connection, and to provide an apparatus for the wired transmission system. SOLUTION: In the wired transmission system, comprising a plurality of apparatuses and cables interconnecting the apparatuses, wherein transmission is carried out in an essential transmission mode adopting a carrier sensing multiaccess/collision detection system, at least each of a pair of the apparatuses among a plurality of the apparatuses includes a connector 6, 7 and a changeover switch 5, 8, and can select the essential transmission mode or an analog signal transmission mode by switching transmission/reception terminals.
