APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR COLORING OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for coloring an optical fiber and a method for coloring an optical fiber by which the surface of an optical fiber can be accurately colored with a plurality of different colors. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a colorant coating device 100 having a nipple 12 and a die 11 to insert and hold a coated optical fiber 110. The color coating device applies a plurality of colorants in different colors having the same viscosity on the surface of the coated optical fiber 110 exposed in a hollow part formed by the nipple 12 and the die 11. The plurality of colorants in different colors are simultaneously supplied from a colorant supply mechanism 101 through a plurality of colorant inlets 13a, 13b. The plurality of colorant inlets are disposed at an equal interval in the circumference direction concentric to the coated optical fiber 110. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
