PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data-receiving apparatus and method, and a data-transmitting apparatus and method, with in which the deterioration of data quality at data transfer time can be suppressed to be as low as possible, using a simple method. SOLUTION: The amount of audio data stored in a buffer inside a CPU 104 is detected to decide the presence/absence of clock error (step S202); and if over-run occurs as a result of the judgement in the step S202, the amount of data in the buffer is reduced by audio data output processing in the case of over-run detection (step S204).
