PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fastening tool which can measure an axial force of a bolt while fastening the bolt, and further to provide a method for measuring the axial force of the bolt. SOLUTION: The fastening tool comprises a socket 13 which can be fitted on the head portion of the bolt, a distance sensor 20 which is provided in the socket 13 and detects the displacement of the top surface of the bolt head which is fitted into the socket 13 and is deformed by being fastened, a measuring portion 32 for measuring the fastening force of the bolt based on the displacement, and a display portion 40 for displaying the result measured by the measuring portion, and can accurately measure the axial force of the bolt. Further, because the measurement can be carried out not only during fastening the bolt but also during carrying out the additional tightening of the bolt, the control of the axial force of the bolt can be directly carried out in a production line.
