PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy-to-prepare catalyst for producing an olefin polymer. SOLUTION: The olefin polymerization catalyst component comprises a combination of a transition metal compound containing a group 8-10 transition metal with a phenolic compound of the formula [wherein, R1s are each independently H, a (substituted) 1-10C alkyl, (substituted) 7-20C aralkyl or (substituted) 6-20C aryl; R2, R3, R4and R5are each H, a halogen atom, (substituted) 1-20C alkyl, (substituted) 7-20C aralkyl or the like; and n is an integer of 1-4].
