PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with personal difference of the feeling or taste peculiar to each user by simple setting operation. SOLUTION: The electric rice cooker has at least one cooking mode for cooking starting with rice boiling by kind of rice, and a pretreatment mode independent or as part of the cooking mode. In the pretreatment mode, the pretreatment for cooking such as a water absorbing process is executed only for a period of time set by the user in executing the cooking mode by the cooking starting operation, with a rice container, in which cooked objects such as water and rice are stored, being stored in a rice cooker body whose lid is closed.
