PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a type 2 diabetes model animal, and to provide a method, and the like, for screening antidiabetic drugs, using the model animal. SOLUTION: This non-human transgenic animal as the type 2 diabetes model is transduced with a recombinant DNA arranged under control of a promotor with a DNA encoding activated SREBP (Sterol Regulatory Element Binding Protein)-2 protein, and exhibits Type 2 diabetes by overexpression of activated SREBP-2 protein in the pancreaticβcells, and the method for screening antidiabetic drugs, and the like, are provided by using the transgenic animal.
