PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a speckle noise and enhance the edge effectively to ultrasonic image data. SOLUTION: A wavelet conversion section 32 performs a wavelet conversion of image data collected by an image data generation section 10 and calculates a low-frequency wavelet conversion coefficient and a high-frequency wavelet conversion coefficient. An edge information detection section 33 detects edge information by comparing the high-frequency wavelet conversion coefficient obtained by this wavelet conversion and a threshold assigned beforehand. Next, a coefficient processing section 34 performs a weighting process of the high-frequency wavelet conversion coefficient on the basis of the detected edge information, and the wavelet reverse conversion section 35 generates edge-emphasized image data through a wavelet reverse conversion using the high-frequency wavelet conversion coefficient to which the weighting process has been applied and the low-frequency wavelet conversion coefficient.
