PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new therapeutic style against cancer such as malignant melanoma and osteogenic sarcoma, and to obtain a medicinal composition for prevention (including recurrence prevention) and therapy of the cancer. SOLUTION: The use of the medicinal composition containing a pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) or its variant, or a vector containing a nucleic acid molecule encoding the PEDF or the variant, and inducing apoptosis is provided.
