Binding ability is quantified between a test substance and a coating on a flat sensor surface in an aqueous medium or organic solvent using a surface-sensitive technique, optical technique, ellipsometry or surface plasma resonance. - Testing suitable bioactive additives for marine anti-fouling paints comprises quantifying the binding ability between a surface layer and a bioactive test substance. The surface layer comprises a coating with a thickness of 1-1000 nm on a flat sensor surface and the binding ability is quantified in an aqueous medium or organic solvent using surface-sensitive techniques such as quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), optical techniques such as infra-red spectroscopy, ellipsometry or surface plasma resonance. |
