PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color processing apparatus and a method thereof for addressing a desire of adopting a color gamut mapping for using a color appearance space in a processing system of an ICC profile. SOLUTION: A flowchart for indicating a processing example executed by the image processing apparatus includes: a step S2 of transforming a CIE LAB value into three stimulus values XYZ in the case of generating a LUT in compliance with an ICC profile form; a step S4 of calculating the corresponding color appearance space value by searching a transformable and nearest point with respect to a point satisfying a prescribed condition in the case of transforming the XYX values into the color appearance space value by using a color appearance transform formula (S3); and a step S6 of mapping the obtained color appearance space value into a prescribed device color gamut.
